Eviction Moratorium to Expire
July 26, 2021: The federal eviction moratorium is set to expire Saturday, July 31, 2021. No additional extension is anticipated.
In June, the CDC provided its last and final extension of the federal moratorium in order to protect those who lost jobs or income due to the pandemic. Under the moratorium, landlords were prohibited from evicting tenants solely based on a failure to pay rent. Although the moratorium did not require tenants to pay back rent, it did not forgive that financial responsibility.
A waive of eviction actions based upon delinquent rents are expected at the start of August.
