Legal Lines: Register of Wills/Clerk of Orphans Court
Hosted by Glenn Smith. Glenn interviews Bradley Jacobs who is Register of Wills/Clerk of Orphans Court. The Register of Wills is an elected official who serves as Register of Wills and Clerk of the Orphans' Court. The Register of Wills has jurisdiction of the probate of wills and the grant of letters to a personal representative. The responsibilities of the Clerk of the Orphans' Court include the maintaining of dockets and files for petitions for incapacitated persons, appointment of guardians, adoptions (which records are confidential) and any other issues which may come before the Orphans' Court Division. The Clerk of the Orphans' Court is also responsible for assisting the Judge of the Orphans' Court during Court proceedings as well as preparing and maintaining documents pertaining to those proceedings.
